Sticking to the exercises outlined in the LDNM Cutting Guide, I awoke this morning knowing exactly what was coming: Full Body day!! Now don’t get me wrong, I am starting to enjoy the gym again and I’m feeling better for going (even though it’s only been a few days) but the full body session is the one that normally leaves me feeling like I could pass on. Reading through the list of exercises the one that immediately stood out to me as, ‘Oh no!’ was squats. From going to the gym I have discovered that squatting without weight is achievable, I can do that. The second any weight is involved, my body gives up and I just end up looking like a fat man trying desperately hard to re-rack a pole!

I decided that today would be the day I make my return to the squat rack, even if I was only lifting the bar – I would get through the set! To my surprise, I actually managed to do them without my back going or my legs feeling like they were about to drop off. I went for slow and steady, checking my form as I went and readjusting when necessary. Now I’ve managed to do these I’m fairly confident of pushing on and increasing the load slowly over the weeks.
