After having an emotional ‘goodbye Christmas period’ Pizza Hut takeaway last night, the time has come to ‘start again’ (yes, we’ve been here before MANY times). I got out of bed early, popped on my slightly-tighter-than-it-used-to-be gym wear and planned to set off……DISASTER! My iPod and headphones have been in my car since before Christmas and both had run out of charge. Now, I could’ve gone to the gym without them but I like to be in my own little world whilst I’m looking dangerously unfit so I decided to come in and charge them. Plugging both of these items into my laptop to see completely flat batteries gave me a wonderful opportunity to lounge in bed whilst they charged. After ‘accidentally’ nodding off for an hour or two, I unplugged the iPod and headphones and set off to the gym.

Walking into the gym I felt a little self conscious; I’m a lot bigger than I’ve been for a long time and I feel slow and unfit. I have decided to once again follow the LDNM Cutting Guide as a base for my workouts – It’s simple to follow, it’s prescriptive and I like the fact I can go at my own pace. I did a light warm up on the treadmill and then set off Day One – Push & Arms. Despite not working out for ages, it went as well as could be expected.
The only downside to the session was the fact that I’m noticeably heavier and fatter than I used to be which has knocked my confidence. If I can persevere and get over the ‘you look fat’ phase, then maybe I’ll get that rhythm back.
