Today sees one of the dieters worst enemies coming in to my life…..the family birthday event!! It’s a great excuse for Nanna to whip out the sausage rolls, pastries, crisps, sandwiches, basically anything that I shouldn’t be eating whilst on a diet and fitness regime!

To try and balance things in my mind I decided to take my exercising outdoors, I broke free of the gym regime and headed for the pavements of Barrow in Furness. Now 5 miles may not seem like a lot to the fit people of the world but it’s a starting point, it’s a marker that I have put down to beat next time. With my iPod on, a hoodie to hide my sweaty torso and my inhaler in hand I set off on my walk.

Needless to say Barrow threw some cracking sights at me. Here are my top 5, in reverse order, from todays walk.

5 – A soiled nappy blowing about by Furness General Hospital
4 – Two little boys on scooters with one telling the other, “Your scooter is shit”.
3 – An old man in a Nissan Micra getting overtaken by a bus on Dane Ave.
2 – A group of lads, looked about 14/15 years old, daring each other to go in The Berry
1 – An old fella sat on a bench who whistled at a young girl jogging past then said to me, “You would though wouldn’t you!”

My main discovery today however was the energy giving, thirst quenching beverage called Boost….Now I remember the days of buying Boost in a large silver bottle from HomeBargains, to mix with vodka because it was cheaper than RedBull, but to see Boost offering a ‘Mixed Berry’ flavour to the masses was too good to miss! I capitalised on the 65p offer by buying two bottles.
