There’s something satisfying about thinking, “I’m going to lose weight this summer“….for a second it seems easy.
In my mind the routine was simple….
Step 1 – Don’t eat crisps for a day.
Step 2 – Drink a bottle of water not Coke.
Step 3 – Eat an apple…..fruits meant to be good for you, this diet’s going well so far!
Step 4 – Visit the gym, stay for about an hour, come home plastered in sweat….you can almost feel the weight just melting away!
One day in and you’ve gone from fat to fit in one simple swoop….
……Only….you haven’t, it’s not that easy.
Charting your weight loss progress seems to be a good idea, you can see progress and when you do it’s all positive, so what method shall I use?
I’ve heard people say, “I don’t weigh myself, I just go by whether or not my clothes are hanging right“, I’m not sure that this is for me. Most of my clothes are large enough to suffocate a small elephant anyway, so for my clothing to sit differently I’m pretty sure I’d have to lose about a stone.
People have also told me, “Take photographs of yourself, you’ll be amazed by the differences”. Not being a fan of having images of an obese man in boxer shorts on my laptop, especially ones where there is absolutely no difference from start to finish, I gave that a miss!
“Just man up and weigh yourself” was possibly the best advice I got, I needed to know where I was starting from. When Jock sent me his post included measurements I felt I needed to share the figure with you, if one of us does, it’s only fair the other should too.
So here it is…..
Bring on the weight loss!
