Well, here is my 1st entry to the 2FatMen blog. I have been hard(ish) at it for about a month now, after I stood on the scales and saw that I had reached an all time high of 19st 1lb.  I bought some running shoes and some ill-fitting t-shirts and decided that running was the key to my epic battle against the bulge.

For the 1st three weeks (2 of which I was working away, in Middlesbrough) I set about pounding the pavement and watching what I eat…I found myself in the embarrassingly girly habit of looking at calorie content on food packets.  This led to an impressive loss of 10lbs in 3 weeks (18st 5lbs).

So last week, I decided that I was going to join a weight loss programme.  As my wife was a member of the Rosemary Conley class, I thought I’d give it a go.  I went along to sign up and was greeted by a very chipper and enthusiastic group leader, who proceeded to weigh me and then attempt to get me to join in with the Zumba class. Now, I’m sure that Zumba is a great way to work off some calories but shaking my stuff in a room full of middle-aged women is a little too committed for my liking(!)

It was time to kick the 2FatMen into overdrive. We don’t go to the same gym and we have yet to actually do any working out together but we are still 2FatMen on a journey towards playing a full game of football for our beloved Fred West Ham without passing out.

I went to the gym 3 times and stuck to my 1200 calories a day diet. I even went for a 5 mile hike around the Lakes with the family in the hope of reaching my goal of 17st 12lbs.  So what did the hard work and dedication get me?  A massive loss of 1.5lbs! To say I was annoyed would be an understatement! But a loss is a loss and  in the end it all counts.  My next weigh in is in 2 weeks and I have a family holiday to fit in too. And hopefully I will also get some work done with my fellow Hairy Dieter.  Until then…

Jock
